Dorsaf Hamdani

Dorsaf Hamdani was born 1975 in Tunis, in a family of musicians, where she developed since childhood, a powerful and mesmerizing voice. She masters several repertoires (North African Arab-Andalusian music (nubas), classical Arab singing, traditional sufi songs) and is an accomplished interpret of Fairuz, Asmahan, Um Kalthum, Warda, as well as sufi music.

Dorsaf is a daring interpret. With an exceptional ability to master the timbre of the greatest divas, she respects the great heritage of Arab music genres while creating her own style, conveying powerful emotion and challenging the austerity and restraint of classicism. On stage, she is an exquisite voice, a discreet gesture with a smile of a child.

After having taken part in cross-cultural creations, namely "Rapture" (based on Omar Khayyam’s poetry, with Persian master Alireza Ghorbani) and after paying tribute to three great divas of Arab singing with “Princesses of Arabic Song”, Dorsaf Hamdani sets herself a new challenge with “Barbara & Fairouz”, interpreting the best of the songs by Lebanese living legend “The Turquoise” and French myth “The Lady in Black”, with acclaimed French accordionist Daniel Mille as musical director.
