Sergey Petrov

 

Born 1981 in Norilsk, far north of Russia and graduated from the Gnessin Academy of Music in 2005. His tutor was people's artist of Russia, Professor Ivan Panteleevich Mozgovenko. In 2001 Sergey became the soloist of the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra and since 2002 he has been the soloist of the Bolshoy Theatre Orchestra. In 2005 he won the first prize at the First International Rimsky-Korsakov competition in St-Petersburg. Sergey has collaborated with prominent conductors such as M. Rostropovich, G. Rozhdestvensky, V. Ashkenazy, Yu Temirkanov,  A. Vedernikov, M. Panni and M. Rota. Presently, he successfully combines his work at the Bolshoi Theatre and teaching at the Balakirev School, which is Russia's biggest art school. Sergey Petrov regularly collaborates with prominent musicians.
