LEBNANIAT Evening with Ghada Shbeir
Songs by Fairouz, Rahbani Brothers and Andalusian Music

Under the patronage of H.E. Houssam Diab, Ambassador of Lebanon to the Sultanate of Oman, the renowned Labanese singer, Ghada Shbeir, performed in the opening concert of the Muscat Chamber Music Series season II a selection of different songs by the legends and icons of 20th-century Arabic music: Fairouz, Rahbani Brothers and muwashahat (Andalusian strophic songs) rearranged in a new style accompanied by oriental musicians from Lebanon.

More than 200 students from Al Choueifat, Al Shomoukh and PDO School enjoyed a vocal master class with Ghada Shbeir having the chance to understand the different tones and how to project their voices. Moreover, 20 of these students were selected to perform both Omani and Lebanese anthem during the celebration of the Lebanese National Day on November 15th. The experience for both artist and pupils of rehearsing and performing together in such a frame and in such a short time created a magical atmosphere which can only be described by the most heard sentence during this intense period: “I am so happy”.
